June 5-16, 2017 marked the First Annual Stewarts Creek Arts Academy (SCAA), a two-week musical/theatrical training program where students age 8-14 were immersed in a rigorous, professional, educational experience, combining fun, experiential, interactive classes with direct, hands-on performance opportunities.
Students took daily classes in Acting, Instrumental Music, Stage Movement, Creative Writing, and Vocal Music. Students also became proficient in the technical aspects of the performing arts, including running sound and lighting design. At the end of the camp was a summative Showcase performance, featuring a one-act play and original compositions in the forms of monologues and dances.
