SCHS Jazz Band In-Concert
The SCHS Jazz Band will perform in concert on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 7:00 PM in the theater at SCHS. Admission is free and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this performance.
Call Time for Jazz Band Members: 6 PM in the theater.

MTSBOA Mid-State Band Auditions - Last Call
This is the last call for all SCHS Band members who are interested in auditioning for the MTSBOA All-Mid-State Bands. Registration is $10.00 per instrument. Band members must register by this evening and payment is due in hand by this Friday.
Home Game Performance: Vs. McGavock High School + Senior Night
A friendly reminder that home game Friday's are a little different in that students will be dismissed at 3:30 PM and should plan to leave campus as normal to go home, eat, and get ready for the performance. Please see the gig sheet for more information. Band members will need to be back to campus by 5:00 PM due to the senior night activities scheduled before the game. See the gig sheet for more information. We are performing the entire show at half-time.
Senior Parents - a letter was sent home with your child last week with information from the senior night activity coordinator about what time to arrive to the SCHS stadium, what to wear, etc.
Parents - Because this is a home game, we will not need any parent chaperones or any help in the cafeteria this week.
TN Division II SMBC Fundraiser - A Call to All SCHS Band Parents
A separate email and text message was sent today (10/23) with a volunteer sign-up link through Sign-Up Genius. We need to fill several key positions in order to make this contest successful. Please take a moment to click the link below to sign-up. In order to balance the needs for the contest, we may need to ask a few of you to cover in other areas where additional parent help is needed.
Please also be on the lookout this week for an additional sign-up for donated hospitality items needed for the contest.
TN Division II SMBC - Coca-Cola Products Needed
As we have done every year, we are once again asking for families to donate Coca-Cola products for the contest. We are asking for each band member to bring in 2 (two) six-packs of 16 oz. of the following Coca-Cola brand products:
- Freshmen: Diet Coke
- Sophomores: Dr. Pepper
- Juniors: Sprite
- Seniors: Coca-Cola
Parents - if you would like to contribute more, that would be great as well. Everything that we can get donated helps reduce our contest expenses. This means a higher profit margin towards our uniform campaign.

The SCHS Band will have individual photos of the band students in their dress uniform taken in class on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Flyers have been sent home with all the band members. However since we all know what student track records are when getting things to parents, we have a link below that will take you to the online order form. You can order individual photos, as well as the group composite photo, as well as other items. Use the coupon code 102423 for free shipping.
Parents can also fill out the paper form and pay with a check (made payable to Prestige Digital Imaging). Just send the check and order form with your child to turn into the band room black box.

SCHS Band Needs Your Help: Mattress Sale Fundraiser
As you may recall from the meeting last week, the SCHS Band Mattress Sale Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM in the SCHS Cafeteria. We need your help to spread the word to your neighbors, friends, and family, and to share on any social media accounts you might have. Brand new, name brand mattresses and mattress accessories at 50% off what you would find retail. All we ask is for families to spread the word at various times this week. We are working towards earning $10K towards the new SCHS Band capital campaign for uniforms. Final call for contest sponsorships due this Friday. This is a great opportunity for families who need assistance with class fees to earn 80% to offset out-of-pocket costs.

IMPORTANT - Band Parent and Student Meeting - Tuesday, October 10, 2023
We have a very important meeting scheduled for Tuesday, October 10, 2023 at 6PM in the SCHS Cafeteria. We have some very important information that all parents and band members need to hear. The meeting will last no more than 30 minutes. We rarely call these meetings out of respect for everyone's time. However this is information that everyone needs to hear. We need as many parents that can attend this meeting to make an appearance.
Post-Fall Break Schedule
ASR's after fall break will take place from 4:15 PM - 6:00 PM. The extra time will help students get home sooner.

We need everyone to step up here. We currently have 6 contest sponsorships and we need more to continue to make this contest both profitable and sustainable. Every amount from the sponsorships helps defray costs of the contest, which means more profit to invest in the SCHS Band Program. Concert Attire Fittings
Next week new band members and any returning band members who need replacement concert attire will be fitted for their concert attire. Fittings will take place on Tuesday, September 26 place during freshmen band class and during ICU for percussion freshmen and for those who need replacement attire.
Any band member who needs replacement concert attire should bring their attire with them to the band room on Tuesday, September 26.
Post-Fall Break Schedule
Please take a look at the October Calendar (above). Because there are no rehearsals this week, or during fall break, we will need to review the production with two rehearsals the week we return from fall break. ASR's after fall break will take place from 4:15 PM - 6:00 PM. The extra time will help students get home sooner.
We have a very important meeting that will take place on Tuesday, October 10 at 6:00 PM for all SCHS Band Parents and Students. We will send out more information about this meeting closer to the event. We try to meet only when necessary and this meeting will be one of those few times where we can get all SCHS Band Parents and Students together.

SCHS Band Hosts the TN Division II State Marching Band Championship
As discussed at the band registration meeting on July 15, 2023, the SCHS Band program has been selected to serve as site hosts for the 42nd Annual TN Division II State Marching Band Championship (SMBC). We need help from all families in order to make this day successful.
The first thing we need is contest sponsorships. There are over 50 + business in and around the Smyrna and Murfreesboro area that would gladly serve as sponsors. There are four (4) levels of sponsorship designed so businesses can find an amount that works.
Band Parents - find out if your place of employment would serve as a sponsor. All proceeds go to help offset the costs of the contest. Help support the contest and offset the costs of participation for your child. Each year we get emails from area businesses who were never asked to serve as a sponsor but would like to in the future. The link below will take you to the sponsorship form.
Home Game Performance: vs. Antioch HS & Homecoming
This week will return to the normal home game procedures where students will leave campus at 3:30 PM and return at 5:45 PM. Friday morning will work a little differently as the band members will need to meet no later than 8:15 am in the band room for the homecoming parade and morning stadium rehearsal. Please see the gig sheet for more information on Friday morning and the game itself. Due to homecoming activities, the SCHS Band will not perform the normal half-time production this week.
Parents - Because this is a home game, we will not need any parent chaperones or any help in the cafeteria this week.
