Our 2024 production, CreekStrong, is shaping up to be one of our most ambitious yet, with a soundscape that’s designed to captivate audiences. However, there’s something important you should know about enjoying our performances during away games: where you sit can make all the difference.
The Science Behind the Sound
Our production relies on a sophisticated soundscape with backing tracks that enhance the live music played by our talented students. While this creates a powerful and immersive experience when heard correctly, the physics of sound can lead to a unique challenge during away games. When you’re seated in the visitor bleachers, the sound takes longer to reach your ears due to the distance from the field’s sound system. This delay causes what we call “time distortion,” making it seem like the music is slightly out of sync. This can impact your enjoyment and the overall impression of the performance.
The Solution: Move to the Home Bleachers
To get the full impact of the CreekStrong production and hear the performance as it’s meant to be experienced, we recommend moving to the home bleachers during halftime at away games. By doing so, you’ll be closer to the sound system, reducing the delay and allowing you to fully appreciate the timing, balance, and dynamics of the music. This small change in location can transform your experience from “good” to “amazing.”
