Choir to Perform at State Conference

Stewarts Creek Apollo Contra Ensemble
to Perform at State Conference

The Apollo Contra Ensemble, the premiere tenor-bass vocal ensemble at Stewarts Creek High School, has been selected to perform at the State Professional Development Conference of the Tennessee Music Education Association (TMEA) in April 2025, performing for an audience of music educators from across Tennessee.

In order to be selected as a performing ensemble at the TMEA Conference, Apollo submitted performance recordings from multiple years, which were adjudicated by a national panel of choral experts.  Only a few ensembles are deemed 'conference ready,' with even fewer gaining the invitation to perform.  Apollo was the only high school tenor-bass ensemble from the state of Tennessee invited to perform.

"This performance represents the largest largest geographical footprint, the most exclusive honor, and the highest creative output any tenor-bass choir from Stewarts Creek has ever achieved," said Dr. Clark Harrell, principal at Stewarts Creek High School.  "We could not be more proud of the students in Apollo!"

Recently, another choir from Stewarts Creek, the Athena Treble Choir, was selected as a performing demonstration choir at the National Convention of the American Choral Directors Association.  Athena was one of only a few choirs from across the country invited to perform in Dallas in March 2025.

The Stewarts Creek Choirs are fundraising to raise money for these two exclusive honors.  To donate toward these two performances, click here.
