United States Senator Marsha Blackburn visited Stewarts Creek High School today. Band students were especially excited to greet the senator, as she played a pivotal role in ensuring the band still performed in the modified 60th Presidential Inaugural Parade in January. The band’s performance was initially called off when the inaugural parade was moved indoors to the Capital One Arena due to winter weather. Senator Blackburn went above and beyond to secure the band’s place in the parade, later proclaiming, “I wasn’t going to have these kids disappointed.” As a token of appreciation for her support, she was presented with a framed drumhead that was played during the inaugural parade. Principal Clark Harrell expressed gratitude for Senator Blackburn, stating: “We became part of history because of her generous spirit and steadfast support. She is our champion!”
