Welcome to room 608, my name is Mrs. Jamie Keener, and I am very excited about this year. I believe there are many benefits of ESL, and they start in the classroom. A well-designed ESL program fosters English language acquisition but not at the expense of a student’s native language. Also, ESL learners gain a range of benefits that can positively impact their lives and careers. A few of these positive factors include personal identity, family and community connections, academic achievement, and future employment opportunities.
A little bit about me is I graduated from Smyrna High School. I am married to my husband Paul, and we have three children, two grandchildren, and one sweet fur baby. I started teaching when I graduated from MTSU. I have taught almost every grade at the elementary level and now I am here at SCHS teaching ESL. I am very excited about what is to come, and I hope to make a wonderful impact on your child.
