Mr. Josh Newton-Latin, Mythology, Greek and Roman History
Mr. Newton
Room 533
Welcome to the Classics! You're here because I'm teaching you Latin, Mythology, or Greco-Roman history. If not...I'm not sure why you're here. All of our information can be found in band.us (email me if you are not a member). I'm also the club sponsor of the Classical League (Greek and Roman art, mythology, history, etc.) and our Magic: the Gathering club (the non-DnD nerd club). Send me an email about either if you're interested!
About me: I'm originally from Pulaski, Tennessee and went to high school in Ardmore, Alabama (right on the state line, about 30 minutes from Huntsville). I studied Classics (Greek and Roman civilizations, languages, philosophy, etc.) at the University of Tennessee and earned my BA there in 2009. I then moved to Boulder, Colorado and studied more of the same for my MA. I graduated in 2011 and taught there for a year before moving back to Tennessee to teach at Stewarts Creek. This is currently (2026) my twelfth year here!
My hobbies include music (mandolin, drums), reading (history, fantasy, sci-fi), and copious amounts of video games (too many to name). My wife and I are homebodies and enjoy reading, board games, and our cat, Kalliope. My hope is to pass some love of Greece and Rome to students, or at the very least to sharpen students' intellects with their study.
