  • COLLEGE BOARD ADVANCED PLACEMENT

By now, all AP students should have joined the My AP Classroom platform. If you have not done this, go to myap.collegeboard.org to link to your class.  This is how the communication is organized from the College Board to the school about students and exams.  Make sure students join the correct My AP Classroom with the unique join code from your teacher. Students who have taken an AP course before should already have an AP account, and they should use that account to sign up. If they have trouble signing in, have them use the “forgot password” function.  They SHOULD NOT create a new account unless they have never taken an AP course and will need to register for the first time.  This gives them access to free resources from the College Board.

AP Exam Registration will begin September 22 and go through October 1.  Registration will close October 1st, no exceptions.  We will do this during 4th period lunches.  Test fees are $96 per AP Exam.  The reduced fee this year is $34 per exam. Being eligible for a fee reduction on the AP test will depend on applying for free and reduced lunch. Even though lunches are free for everyone this year, you must still apply for free/reduced lunch to be considered for a reduced AP Exam fee. You can go to this website to apply for free/reduced lunch and, if approved, will be eligible for the reduced fee for the AP Exam: https://frmeals.rcschools.net/ .  Please do this ASAP as we will be registering for exams before fall break.

Students who take the AP Exam will receive 5 rigor points added to their AP class grade. Students who do not take the AP Exam will receive 3 rigor points (the same as all other honors classes).

Finally, all communication from the College Board indicates that the tests will all be paper and pencil this year.  So, we are making plans to test in person.  For exam dates and times follow this link to the College Board website.

  • NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

On behalf of the SCHS chapter of the National Honor Society, we would like to inform you of an opportunity available to students and staff at the Creek.  Starting this week and continuing through the end of September, NHS volunteers are running a booth in the cafeteria during all lunch periods to help students (and staff) register to vote, as part of the 2021 SCHS Voter Registration Drive. This opportunity is available to anyone who will be at least 18 years old by the time of the next election (May 3, 2022); which is to say that students may register to vote even if they are not 18 years old yet.  Registering to vote is a simple process, but it is critical that students bring and/or know their full social security number before coming to register.  Students may take the form home if they forget to bring their social security number but must return it to me (Dr. Toedt, Room 524) or one of the 4 NHS volunteers running our cafeteria booth during lunch periods in order to be considered an in-person registration and qualify for absentee voting.  You are probably aware that first-time voters in the state of Tennessee are typically required to vote in-person UNLESS they have already registered to vote in-person.  This can make first-time voting difficult for students who have moved away for college, military service or any other reason.  However, students who register to vote through the 2021 SCHS Voter Registration Drive will avoid this complication, as the Rutherford County Election Commission will consider their registrations as “in-person”, thereby allowing those who no longer reside in Rutherford County (or even the state of Tennessee) to request an absentee ballot for the 2022 election cycle.  NHS Volunteers will be in the cafeteria to help students register to vote throughout the month of September, with the last day to register being Tuesday, September 28.  We would be most appreciative if you would be willing to help with these efforts by encouraging your of-age kiddos to consider registering to vote here at the Creek!
Thank you and best regards,
Mrs. Norris, Mrs. Delaney & Dr. Toedt; SCHS Chapter, National Honor Society

  • GOLF TEAM

This past Tuesday was our final regular season match.  Our girls team defeated Smyrna for their 3rd district win of the season. Senior Lillie Anderson birdied the 18th hole to finish with a career best 88.  She and junior Katie Foster have been a formidable pair throughout the season.  In what has been a rebuilding year for our boys (we lost 4 seniors off last year's district runners-up team), senior Tyson Smith had his best round of the season in his last home match.  Junior Aaron Goff has been our leader all season with an outstanding average of 83.

On Monday, September 20th, all golf team members will be competing in the District Tournament at Indian Hills. These kids have been a pleasure to work with. Please wish them well when you see them on Friday.
