Week at the Creek

Welcome to Week at the Creek!

What is Week at the Creek?  It's our parent newsletter published each week with informative news about all things Creek.  It highlights student and teacher accomplishments, upcoming events, deadlines, and what is happening on campus.  The information is broken down into sections: Announcements & Updates, Class News, Clubs & Organizations, Counselor's Corner, OneTeam Athletics, and Student Spotlights and Celebrations.  Take a peek each week and stay up-to-date with school information.  Enjoy!

I know many of you have already heard the tragic and heartbreaking news about the passing of Maurice Grooms yesterday afternoon. This week, we mourn this incredible loss. Coach Grooms has left a lasting impact on so many students and colleagues. As we help our students and each other cope with this loss, let us keep the Grooms family in our prayers. Personally, I will remember him for how he deeply cared about his students and how he embodied a "lead by example" spirit. We will support the Grooms family, our students, and staff however we can through this time of mourning.

  • ART AWARDS

We have just learned that 5 of our Red Hawk artists have received awards from the nationally recognized and revered Scholastic Art Awards! If you have the following students in class, or if you know them and see them in the hallway, make sure to give them a huge and heartfelt congratulations. This is a big deal! We are very proud of all of our students, however it is so excited for some of them to have artworks recognized by a jury and other people in the world be able to appreciate the amazing work they do.

  • CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Lady RedHawks continued a tradition they started last year by attending the TSSAA State XC Championships yesterday in Hendersonville.  The top 3 teams from each of the 8 regions in the state participate.  They fought hard with 2 personal records and a season best.  We moved up 3 positions from last year finishing 16th.  There were some injuries towards the end of the season, but the strength, perseverance, dedication, work ethic, INTEGRITY, and GRACE these student athletes showed throughout the season have been an incredible blessing to me.  They are a wonderful example to everyone around them.  An example: Ella Hasty was a top 5 runner who got injured a few weeks before Regions and was not able to participate in Regions or State.  She continued to not only support her team but ended up being a vital part of helping another team.  A team in our county had an athlete who was out of uniform.  Their coach approached us because we wear the same color shorts.  Ella graciously offered her shorts to their athlete so they could compete.  This is just one example of the heart of this team.  I could not be more proud.  If you see any of these athletes, please congratulate them on not only an amazing season, but their outstanding character: Andrea Ellis (12), Ashton Greenwood (12), Hannah Westergard (12), Ella Hasty (11), Kylie Gray (10), Kari Thongkham (10), Lana Warren (10), Avery Claypool (9), Bella King (9), and Briley Walker (9).

Thank you so much for your support of the cross country program!
