Dawn Barger Hired As New Boys Basketball Coach

Stewarts Creek High School is excited to welcome Dawn Barger as the head coach of the boys basketball team. With over 14 years of experience, Coach Barger has achieved success in both boys and girls basketball. As head boys basketball coach at Lake County High School, Barger led the program to the TSSAA Class A State Tournament each year, including a State Championship win in 2011 - the first in school history. Most recently she has helped coach the girls basketball programs at Stewarts Creek and Blackman. Prior to coaching, Barger played as a point guard for Berry College in Rome, Georgia.

“I am excited that Coach Barger, who is highly regarded as a coach and educator throughout Rutherford County and the state, will lead our boys basketball program,” said Dr. Clark Harrell, principal.

“Coach Barger is an excellent leader and real specialist in game fundamentals and strategy. She is passionate about developing a high-quality team on the court while cultivating a strong work ethic and character for a lifetime off the court,” said Lady Red Hawks Coach Lindy King.

In a letter to Athletic Director Jenni Smith, Barger said, “I would like to thank Dr. Clark Harrell for providing me the opportunity to build a program for which the school and community can be proud.”
