Red Hawks National Honor Society

The mission of the Stewarts Creek High School National Honors Society has 4 parts:
  • To create an enthusiasm for life-long learning and scholarship
  • To stimulate a desire to render service in your community
  • To promote leadership
  • To develop strong personal character

The Four Pillars of NHS

1. Scholarship

This pillar reflects a student’s commitment to academic excellence.

  • NHS requires students to meet a minimum GPA established by the local chapter (always at or above the national minimum).
  • Scholarship is not only about grades—it's about a sustained commitment to learning and intellectual growth.

2. Service

Service represents a student’s willingness to help others without expecting anything in return.

  • This includes volunteering in school, the community, or organizations.
  • Service emphasizes initiative, compassion, and a genuine desire to contribute positively to the lives of others.

3. Leadership

Leadership in NHS is about influence, responsibility, and positive role modeling.

  • Students demonstrate leadership by guiding others, taking initiative, and contributing to group goals.
  • Leadership doesn’t require holding a title; everyday actions such as mentoring peers or contributing to class culture also count.

4. Character

Character reflects integrity, honesty, and respectful behavior—both in and out of school.

  • Students are expected to uphold high ethical standards, follow school policies, and demonstrate reliability and responsibility.
  • Good character also includes empathy, accountability, and maintaining a positive reputation in the school community.

Discipline and Eligibility for NHS Induction

In accordance with National Honor Society standards, our chapter evaluates candidates based on the four pillars of Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character. As part of the Character pillar, a student’s conduct and adherence to school policies are considered during the selection process.

The faculty council reviews each applicant’s discipline record to ensure that candidates demonstrate integrity, responsibility, and positive behavior within the school community. Significant or repeated disciplinary incidents may impact eligibility for induction.

Our goal is to select students who exemplify the highest standards of ethical conduct both in and out of the classroom.
