Officer Expectations & Responsibilities
General Expectations for ALL NHS Officers:
NHS officers must be role models for the other members. As such, they are expected to:
- Attend all general membership meetings and be on time
- Regularly attend NHS service activities
- Remain in "good standing" according the NHS chapter bylaws
- Oversee and provide NHS service activities EACH MONTH
- Run membership meetings and induction ceremony
- Represent NHS at school events and/or speaking engagements
- Lastly, the officers plan and facilitate the summer meeting
President
- Presides over all chapter meetings (general membership & officer)
- Oversees all chapter activities
- Works with the President to plan and coordinate the group service project
- Meets regularly with NHS advisors
Vice President
- Presides in the absence of the president
- Keeps attendance records for meetings
- Works with the President to plan and coordinate the group service project
- Meets regularly with NHS advisors
Treasurer
- Keeps accurate financial records of all chapter transactions
- Writes receipts for all member payments
- Meets regularly with NHS advisors
Secretary
- Keeps accurate and detailed minutes for all chapter meetings
- Regularly updates online copy of meeting minutes
- Writes agenda on whiteboard before each meeting
- Keeps accurate records for attendance, service hours, dues, and group service project participation.
- Meets regularly with NHS advisors
Historian
- Collects and manages pictures & media from chapter activities and events
- Creates slideshow for induction ceremony
- Meets regularly with NHS advisors
Parliamentarian
- Oversee chapter bylaws and ensure every event is done ethically and to NHS standards
- Maintain and organize sign up genius for all service opportunities and events
- Meets regularly with NHS advisors
