Here is your Monday Night Rundown for the week of January 18: (Week 3 of Q3)

 

As we are all aware, the current climate does not allow for us to perform concerts before a live audience. This has created a series of unique challenges for the SCHS Band Program. However, working in conjunction with Stewarts Creek High School Television and the Fine Arts Academy, we've found a temporary solution.

 

The plan for this quarter is to video record each concert ensemble class separately. This requires only one after school dress rehearsal and one day after school for recording. We have allocated 1 hour and 15 minutes for the dress rehearsal and 1 hour for the video recording per class ensemble. This will also allow our distance learners to join us for this project. Music and part assignments will be emailed to students to practice and most selections will be found in SmartMusic.

 

Recording each ensemble separately allows us to follow social distancing and health and safety guidelines with students seated 6ft apart on the stage. We have also limited the amount of after school time so that students can continue to focus on school work and other commitments.

 

For our distance learners, please note that we highly encourage participation as this will be the only performance grade for the quarter. For those students who are unable to participate, an alternative assignment will be given in place of this performance grade. We will send out a quick survey to the parents of distance learners this week to confirm participation in this project.

Please note that with the uncertainty of inclement weather or a change to school-wide distance learning, we have added back-up dates, just to be on the safe side. Please check the calendar thoroughly. 

 

 

While we know that video recordings will never replace the atmosphere of a live performance, we know that the band members have been eager to have the opportunity to perform once again. Please let us know if you have any questions.
