We wanted to take a moment to say thank you to those of you who were able to make it out to the SCHS Band Christmas Concert last Thursday. It was great to see so many come out and support their band program. We look forward to performing for everyone soon.

 

This will be the last MNR until we return to school in January. In the meantime we wish everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Joyful New Year!

 

We are in the process of drafting the calendar for Quarter 3 & Quarter 4. Please be on the lookout for that email and text message.

 

• 12/6    Concert/Symphonic Band ASR for Christmas Concert – 3:45 PM – 5:30 PM
• 12/7    Wind Ensemble ASR for Christmas Concert – 3:45 PM – 5:30 PM
• 12/8    SCHS Band Christmas Concert – 7:00 PM – Call Time 5:30 PM
• 12/9    1st/2nd Period Jazz Band Basketball Performance – Call Time 5:00 PM

The combined 1st and 2nd period jazz bands will perform for the home basketball game this Friday, December 9. Call time will be 5:15 PM. Dress will be the black band shirt and blue jeans without holes. The band will perform for both the girls game and the boys game. Dismissal will be approximately 9:00 PM.

 

All band members will have an ASR on Thursday, December 1st from 3:45 PM - 6:00 PM. The weather is supposed to be very cold so students should dress appropriately for rehearsal. The Town of Smyrna Christmas Parade is always scheduled for the first Sunday of December. Call time for students will be 12 PM and we should depart SCHS between 12:30 PM and 12:45 PM. Uniform code is in full effect so we ask that students be clean shaven and that hair/fingernails are natural in appearance. Please see the gig sheet for more information. 

 

Additionally we will need parent chaperones to ride the bus (chaperones can enjoy the parade and will not march with the band). We will also need a volunteer driver for Friday and Sunday for the equipment trailer.

11-12 Mid-State Band & 9-12 Mid-State Jazz Band Audition Info

For students auditioning for the mid-state 11th-12th bands or the 9th-12th jazz bands, please click the link below for information about this audition day. There is an info packet for winds, one for percussion, and one for all jazz. The auditions will take place this Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Antioch High School. 

 

 

The remainder of our Quarter 2 dates are listed above and can also be found on the online calendar. If you have synched your mobile devices to the calendar than all updates should appear. We will send out a Quarter 3 and 4 calendar before the end of the semester.

 

All new students have been fitted for concert attire. Additionally returning students who need additional concert attire have also been measured. For those students wearing concert gowns, hemming measurements will take place in class as soon as they arrive in the mail. For wind ensemble members who will wear a tuxedo, you will need to purchase a white button-down long sleeve shirt. This does not have to be a tuxedo shirt as you can use this shirt for other occasions besides concerts. The only other requirement is to make sure the collar is not a button-down collar. A normal laydown collar without buttons is exactly what is needed. Tuxedo jacket fittings will take place in class this week.

Calling all band parents - We are 4 days away from this event and we still have several positions that need to be filled and items donated. The difference between a $10,000 day and a $30,000 is you! Hosting the Tennessee Division II State Marching Band Championship is a huge honor and undertaking. The smallest things make the biggest differences. 

 

As of tonight we have NO parents signed up for evening concessions or tickets sales, and we need parents to sign-up to work parking. We also have NO parent help for Sunday clean-up and tear-down. Additionally, we still need donated items. Please sign up. 

 

The vote for site host is voted on by the directors of this contest and we are in competition with schools in surrounding counties who also have turf fields who would like to host this event. Please help us make this event a success by clicking the two links below:
