SCHS Band: Your Monday Night Rundown (MNR) - Week of 04/29/2024

Good Evening SCHS Band Members and Families,
 
Here is your Monday Night Rundown (MNR) for the week of April 29, 2024:
 
SCHS Band Awards Night Celebration and Banquet
The SCHS Band Awards Night Celebration and Banquet will take place on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 7PM in the SCHS Main Gym. This event will celebrate the achievements of the SCHS Band Members and will be an opportunity for us to properly honor the band senior class of 2024 as they prepare for graduation.
 
This will be a special night and we encourage any and all family members that wish to attend this event to do so. This will be a dress up occasion and will be a great opportunity for photos where everyone looks their best.
 
While the event is not required, it is highly encouraged. All current band members will receive a free ticket. Tickets for everyone will be $30.00. Children 12 and under will be $15.00. Everyone attending must have a ticket. Our ticketing platform will be TicketsCandy and payments for tickets can be paid for with a credit/debit card. Band members who plan to attend will need to use the platform to get their complimentary ticket.
 
For those who wish to pay by check, there is a special coupon code: PAYBYCHECK that will need to be entered. Checks will need to be made payable to the SCHS Music Boosters and not the school. 
 
We will need to submit a final headcount to the caterer by Monday, May 6. Payment by check will be due to the band office by this date.
 
 
SCHS Fine Arts Academy Signing Day - Tuesday, May 7, 2024 - 2:30 PM
For those seniors who will study fine arts in college (either as a major or minor) and who will receive a scholarship should click the link below to register for the fine arts signing day. Like our athletic counterparts, the signing day will be a great way for our academy to celebrate the accomplishments of the senior class of 2024.
 
This event will take place at SCHS in the theater. Parents are encouraged to attend and to join your child on the stage for the signing day photos. Click the link below for more information.
 
 
Studio Recitals Around the Corner
The month of May will be here soon and with it will come the series of studio recitals. We affectionately refer to this as May Madness. Please check the calendar below. While there are no brackets to fill out for this one, we encourage everyone to come out and support the SCHS Band members who will perform as soloists in the next couple of weeks.
 
Band Class Fees - Last Day for Checks: April 30, 2024

Band End-of Course (EOC) Assessments - Tuesday, April 30
The end-of-course (EOC) tests for band will take place in class on Tuesday, April 30. Students have been given 3 short excerpts to prepare. Students will perform these excerpts live before both directors. In addition to a grade, this assessment will also determine placement in next year's band class.

Band Student Leadership Interest Meeting for 2024-2025
For students who are interested in serving in a leadership capacity with the SCHS Band will need to attend only one of two meetings scheduled for this week. Meetings will take place during ICU on Wednesday, April 24 and again on Thursday, April 25.

Washington D.C. Performance Trip Reminders
Please make sure that all student participants on the trip bring to school their Ziplock bag with their red shorts, black band shirt, and long black socks. This bag needs to have the band member's name on it. Those who have not already done so - This must be brought to the band room by tomorrow morning (3/19/2024). Also don't forget that we have an ASR tomorrow (3/19/2024) from 3:45 PM - 5:30 PM.

A special thank you to all parents, family members, and alums who came out to support the Stewarts Creek High School Band at the 85th Annual MTSBOA Concert and Sight-Reading Performance Assessments. Having an audience full of love and support is something that every band member who performed on that stage will remember. SCHS Bands - Freshmen Orientation Performance on Tuesday, March 12
The call time for woodwind, brass, and percussion sections will be 4:45 PM. Dress for the performance will be the black band shirt and blue or black denim pants without holes. The orientation will start at 5:30 PM and students will be dismissed from SCHS following the performance.

SCHS Bands - 7th Annual Assessment Preview Concert 
We would like to invite everyone (friends, family, and alumni) to our performance assessment concert on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 7:00 PM. The SCMS Band will perform first at 6:00 PM. The high school will follow at 7:00 PM.
 
 
University of Tennessee at Knoxville Wind Ensemble
We are also excited that the University of Tennessee at Knoxville's Wind Ensemble will join us for an in-class concert performance starting at 2:00 PM on February 28, 2024. They are doing a tour of three schools in Middle Tennessee. The other schools are Ravenwood High School and Franklin High School. Students will be coded as field trip and excused from classes to attend this performance starting during 4th block.
 
Washington DC Trip Meeting
Don't forget our trip meeting for all participants plus at least one parent representative, which takes place in the band room at 6:30 PM on Thursday, February 29.
