Town of Smyrna Christmas Parade
The band members will have an ASR for the Town of Smyrna Christmas Parade this Thursday, from 3:45 PM until 5:30 PM. Students should dress warmly as the weather this week is quite colder than normal. The parade is this Sunday, December 3, 2023. Please see the gig sheet for more information below.
 
 
We are also in need of some parent help for the parade. Please take a moment to click the link below to visit the Signup Genius page to volunteer. 
 
 
The Month of December
The month of December will be here before you know it. Please make sure to check the calendar for all events taking place in December. For concerts, the band is divided by band class and each class serves as a concert ensemble within the SCHS Band program. Each class will have a dress rehearsal before the Christmas Concert, so please make sure to plan accordingly.

SCHS Band: Your Monday Night Rundown (MNR) - Week of 11/06/2023

Good Evening SCHS Band Members and Families,
 
Before we begin this evening's MNR, we want to take a moment to express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all of the parents and members of the Stewarts Creek High School Band for the outstanding work displayed this past Saturday at the 42nd Annual Tennessee Division II State Marching Band Championship. The spirit, cooperation, team work, and dedication to putting on an event of this magnitude was once again on display. We continue to receive compliments from the participating band directors and members of their staff on the first-rate and  world-class experience that we delivered on Saturday.
 
To the parents . . . We thank you for believing in us, believing in your children, and supporting this band program. There is nothing quite like this anywhere else. Not a day goes by that we don't count the many blessings for the parent involvement and support. Thank you!
 
Many of you may be wondering how much we made on the contest. We are currently working on the numbers. After we get everything settled, we will send an update as a separate email to report on the contest financials, as well as updates from the mattress sale fundraiser. We can then turn our attention on the next phase of the Stewarts Creek High School Uniform Capital Campaign.

Football & Marching Season Comes to an End
We want to take a moment to express our congratulations to the Coaching Staff and members of the Stewarts Creek High School Varsity Football team on a great season. Friday nights are never the same after football season. The spirit, comradery, and energy of performing under the Friday night lights is something truly special. We look forward to serving our school and community next season.

Playoff Game Performance: vs. Ravenwood High School
We are excited to start the first round of the playoff's as the Stewarts Creek Red Hawks travel this Friday to take on the Raptors at Ravenwood High School. Please note that the band will not perform during half-time during play-off games. We will follow all the normal protocols for an away game. Please see the gig sheet below for more information.
 
 
 
TN Division II SMBC - Parent  Volunteer Help Needed!
We still have spots that need to be filled with parent volunteer help. The band members and staff cannot host this contest without your help! We need lots of help to fill evening shifts. Click the link below and sign-up for a shift:
 

TN Division II SMBC - Donated Food Items Needed!
In order to make this a successful fundraiser for the SCHS Band and a world-class experience for the participating high school bands, we are asking families to help with donated food items. Please click the link below to help with food donations.


TN Division II SMBC - Coca-Cola Products Needed
As we have done every year, we are once again asking for families to donate Coca-Cola products for the contest. We are asking for each band member to bring in 2 (two) six-packs of 16 oz. of the following Coca-Cola brand products:
  • Freshmen: Diet Coke
  • Sophomores: Dr. Pepper
  • Juniors: Sprite
  • Seniors: Coca-Cola
Parents - if you would like to contribute more, that would be great as well. Everything that we can get donated helps reduce our contest expenses. This means a higher profit margin towards our uniform campaign.

SCHS Jazz Band In-Concert
The SCHS Jazz Band will perform in concert on Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at 7:00 PM in the theater at SCHS. Admission is free and everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend this performance.
 
Call Time for Jazz Band Members: 6 PM in the theater.
Dress for the concert will be Jazz Band Attire
(as discussed in class and also listed in the band handbook).
 
MTSBOA Mid-State Band Auditions - Last Call
This is the last call for all SCHS Band members who are interested in auditioning for the MTSBOA All-Mid-State Bands. Registration is $10.00 per instrument. Band members must register by this evening and payment is due in hand by this Friday.
 
 
Home Game Performance: Vs. McGavock High School + Senior Night
A friendly reminder that home game Friday's are a little different in that students will be dismissed at 3:30 PM and should plan to leave campus as normal to go home, eat, and get ready for the performance. Please see the gig sheet for more information. Band members will need to be back to campus by 5:00 PM due to the senior night activities scheduled before the game. See the gig sheet for more information. We are performing the entire show at half-time. 
 
Senior Parents - a letter was sent home with your child last week with information from the senior night activity coordinator about what time to arrive to the SCHS stadium, what to wear, etc.
 
 
Parents - Because this is a home game, we will not need any parent chaperones or any help in the cafeteria this week.
 
TN Division II SMBC Fundraiser - A Call to All SCHS Band Parents
A separate email and text message was sent today (10/23) with a volunteer sign-up link through Sign-Up Genius. We need to fill several key positions in order to make this contest successful. Please take a moment to click the link below to sign-up. In order to balance the needs for the contest, we may need to ask a few of you to cover in other areas where additional parent help is needed.
 
 
Please also be on the lookout this week for an additional sign-up for donated hospitality items needed for the contest.

Parents can also fill out the paper form and pay with a check (made payable to Prestige Digital Imaging). Just send the check and order form with your child to turn into the band room black box.

SCHS Band Needs Your Help: Mattress Sale Fundraiser
As you may recall from the meeting last week, the SCHS Band Mattress Sale Fundraiser will take place on Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM in the SCHS Cafeteria. We need your help to spread the word to your neighbors, friends, and family, and to share on any social media accounts you might have. Brand new, name brand mattresses and mattress accessories at 50% off what you would find retail. All we ask is for families to spread the word at various times this week. We are working towards earning $10K towards the new SCHS Band capital campaign for uniforms. Away Game Performance: LaVergne High School
This week the Red Hawks take on the LaVergne Wolverines in an away game at LaVergne High School. 
 
 
Parents - If you are interested and able to help volunteer, please take a moment to click on the link below to sign-up for a volunteer slot. We need parents to help with the meal serving and supervision in the cafeteria; serve as chaperones for the buses and games; and to help tow and drive our equipment trucks.
