We had such a great turnout last Friday and it was great to see so many of you! We are beyond proud of the students and all they were able to accomplish during band camp. We hope to see everyone at a performance soon.
In the meantime here is your first Monday Night Rundown for the 2021-2022 school year. The Monday Night Rundown will be sent most Monday evenings as both an email and text. This information will be useful for band members and parents to plan the week accordingly. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.
Here is your Monday Night Rundown for the week of August 2:
Freshmen Orientation Performance - Thursday, August 5
Just a friendly reminder that the SCHS Band will perform this Thursday, August 5 at the SCHS Freshmen Orientation. Information is as follows:
- Call time: 5:00 PM with instruments in the band room.
- Dress: Black Band Shirt/Khakis/Tennis Shoes (Color Guard will wear Rally Uniform)
- Orientation Start Time: 6:00 PM (our performance will be around 6:30 PM)
As soon as the band is finished performing, students will be dismissed. Freshmen may join their parents to get their schedules, walk around the school and meet teachers, etc.
After School Rehearsals (ASR's) Start Next Week
ASR's start next week. ASR's take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15 PM - 6:30 PM. ASR's are graded activities. Students should dress appropriately for the hot weather (including tennis shoes) and should bring their large water cooler to rehearsal. Students may fill their coolers with ice and water before rehearsals at school. Students should stay after school since there is limited time after school. We recommend that students bring a light snack on these days.
No Call/No Show Policy
We take student safety and security seriously. Because we are responsible for students for all band activities, our expectation is that students will be at all rehearsals and performances.
However we are also realistic and we realize there may be some times when a student needs to miss a rehearsal for a doctor/dentist appointment, illness, or other school related activities.
If a student needs to miss a rehearsal (regardless of the reason) we ask that parents email us at [email protected]
and let us know as soon as possible. Students may also email us themselves (provided that they also copy a parent email). Absences will be classified as excused or unexcused per the band handbook attendance policy.
Please be advised that a no-call/no-show situation will warrant a parent/teacher and student conference.
SCHS Band Parent Portal
Want to make an online payment towards your child's class fees? Need to access information about the band program? Please visit the band website at www.schs.band
and access the Parent Portal Tab.
SCHS Band Fundraisers
Parents - Do you want to lower your out-of-pocket expenses for band class fees? Please consider participating in any or all of our three ongoing fundraisers. We have a Smart Card Sale, Contest Sponsorship, and Shop with Scrip. These fundraisers are designed to help families offset their out-of-pocket costs. While our SmartCard and Contest Sponsorship fundraisers are for a limited time, our Shop with Scrip is continuous. More information about these fundraisers were in your band registration packet, which can also be accessed at the Parent Portal of the SCHS Band website.
Friday Night Performances and Meals
During football season, there are five home games and five away games. On the days in which there are home games, students will need to leave the school at 3:30 PM. This will allow them time to go home and eat or to make plans to eat with other friends and family. Call times for Friday night home games will be 6PM.
On days in which there are away football games, the entire band will stay on campus (since time to load the truck and buses will be limited) and will eat together as an entire band in the cafeteria. Students will not be permitted to leave campus (similar to band camp). There is no additional charge for this meal. We will post information about what is being served the week of so that students with dietary restrictions can plan accordingly.
Remind Text Messaging
Remind Text messaging has been setup. All band members and parents were manually added to Remind based on the information submitted in the band camp registration. Once in a while Remind will not allow certain numbers to be manually added. We will use Remind as our primary means of quick communication. If you did not receive a text message from Remind with this Monday Night Rundown, please click one of the links below.
