A Big Thank You . . .
We want to take a moment to express our sincere thanks to all of the SCHS Band Members and families who worked and donated items to ensure that the 41st Annual TN Division II SMBC was a success. Despite the weather conditions in the morning, the comments that we have received from participating band directors have been very complimentary. Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this event possible. We could not do this without everyone being involved!

Here is your Monday Night Rundown (MNR) for the week of October 31:
TN Division II SMBC - Critical Update
Calling all band parents - We are 4 days away from this event and we still have several positions that need to be filled and items donated. The difference between a $10,000 day and a $30,000 is you! Hosting the Tennessee Division II State Marching Band Championship is a huge honor and undertaking. The smallest things make the biggest differences.
As of tonight we have NO parents signed up for evening concessions or tickets sales, and we need parents to sign-up to work parking. We also have NO parent help for Sunday clean-up and tear-down. Additionally, we still need donated items. Please sign up.
The vote for site host is voted on by the directors of this contest and we are in competition with schools in surrounding counties who also have turf fields who would like to host this event. Please help us make this event a success by clicking the two links below:

The band members will have their individual photos taken for the band composite on November 3, 2022. There are no make-ups for this date. Order forms will be sent home. There is no requirements to buy photos and there is a money back guarantee.

Concert Attire Fittings
Concert attire fittings will take place this week in class. All members in their first year of participation will be fitted for new concert attire which will be their set to own and manage throughout their time in the program.
For retuning members we ask that concert attire is found and tried on. If there are any changes needed due to growth or if attire has been lost, those students will need to see Ms. Burton or Mr. Chester for concert attire fittings.

3:45 PM - 4:30 PM - 10/28 Away Football Game – vs. Riverdale High School
(end of regular season football)
Upcoming Events: Band Calendar Month of October:
- 10/24 Calling all brass players - Optional after school reading session for all brass members to read through some brass choir music. 3:45 PM - 4:30 PM.
- The ASR on Thursday, October 27, 2022 has been cancelled to allow the choir students to concentrate on their concert that evening.

The 41st Annual TN Division II State Marching Band Championship - 11/5/2022
Our biggest fundraising event takes place on Saturday, November 5, 2022. We are proud to have served as site hosts of the TN Division II State Marching Band Championship for eight consecutive years. We want to continue to serve as hosts for future years. In order for that to happen we need your help! How can parents help? We need parents to sign-up and volunteer to work one shift. Additionally we need donations of food and other equipment items. Band members are required to work this event (they will sign-up for one shift). Band members will also receive service hours credit. Parents and students can also sign-up to work more than one shift if desired.

SCHS Jazz Band Concert - Tuesday, 10/18/2022 - 7PM
The SCHS Jazz Bands will perform in a fall concert on Tuesday, October 18, 2022. The concert will start at 7 PM in the SCHS Theater.
- Call time for 2nd Period Jazz Band: 5:45 PM Dressed and warmed up in the band room. Soundcheck will take place at 6PM.
- Call time for 1st Period Jazz Band: 6:15 PM Dressed and warmed up in the band room. Soundcheck will take place at 6:30 PM.
- Dress for both bands: Jazz Band Concert Attire - pressed button down long sleeved shirt/blouse (color is student choice); Bow-tie/long tie (color is student choice); dress pants/skirt; dress shoes/socks/hose. Optional suit /suit coat/jacket/sweater jacket/dress. Professional grooming/make-up and jewelry.

Senior Night Football Game - Friday 10/21/2022
Our senior night recognition will take place on Friday, October 21, 2022 in conjunction with our last home football game of regular season. Senior band parents will be asked to meet at the football field by 5:15 PM. Activities will start at 5:45 PM. More information about specifics will be sent home from the senior night coordinator this week.

Mid-State Concert & Jazz Band Audition Payment Due on Friday 10/21/2022
Sign-ups for mid-state band auditions have taken place. Each audition is $10.00 and students will be limited to up to four entries. Checks/money orders should be made payable to SCHS Band. Audition fees are due by this Friday, October 21, 2022.

Fundraising Event: The 41st Annual TN Division II State Marching Band Championship
Our biggest fundraising and service event of the year will be here soon. The SCHS Band has been chosen to once again host the 41st Annual Tennessee Division II State Marching Band Championship on Saturday, November 5, 2022. We have 22 high school bands from across the State of Tennessee who will compete to be one of the 10 bands selected for the night show and to win the Tennessee Governor's Cup. This is a required event for all band members. We ask that each family volunteer to work one shift. We will also ask for food and other donated items in the next weeks.
Senior Night Football Game - Friday 10/21/2022
Our senior night recognition will take place on Friday, October 21, 2022 in conjunction with our last home football game of regular season. More information about specifics will be shared as soon as we receive it.

Just a friendly reminder that ASR's for marching season now take place on Thursday afternoon's from 4:15 PM - 6:30 PM.

The band will end rehearsal early on Tuesday 9/27 at 5:30 PM so that students participating in the theater and choir performance can be ready for their 7:00 PM performance.
Homecoming Football Game - Thursday 9/29
This week's football game will take place on Thursday 9/29. This game is SCHS's homecoming and the band will not perform the normal half-time performance but will instead accompany the homecoming ceremonies that will take place at half-time.
