Ready or not, April is now here! The SCHS Band is scheduled to perform their last concert performance of the 2022-2023 season on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 7 PM.

 

We will send more details next week. This concert will feature the entire Stewarts Creek High School Band together one last time. We will pay tribute to our senior band members on this concert, as well as recognizing several band members on their musical accomplishment with our annual awards presentation. We hope you will be able to join the SCHS Band for this special concert performance.

We want to invite everyone to join us this Thursday night as the SCHS Jazz Bands and Percussion Ensemble present their spring concert. The concert will feature both the 1st period & 2nd period Jazz Bands, followed by the Percussion Ensemble.

 

For the Jazz Bands and Percussion Ensemble members (and parents) we ask that you read the gig sheet closely as we have different call times and different concert dress requirements for the ensembles. As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

This Week's Events on the Band Calendar: 

We are excited for our percussion ensemble to perform at the Tennessee Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society Day of Percussion. Mrs. Derryberry has been in communication with the students. To recap - The percussion section should plan to arrive (students will be responsible for transportation) at Blackman Middle School by 8:30 AM. Dress will be the black band shirt and jeans without holes or shorts (if the weather is warm enough). Percussion students will need $10.00 ($5.00 for their entry and $5.00 for their lunch). Students will spend the day performing and attending masterclasses on percussion performance skills with some great percussion teachers from across Tennessee. Percussion students will finish at 3:30 PM.

 

Thank you so much to all the parents who are taking care of their child's band class fees. We have now chipped away and are sitting at around $11,900.00 in outstanding band class fees. We now have our bus bills to pay, not to mention our sheet music bill and our performance assessment fees. Please help the band program by sending in your payments with you child to the black box, or click on the PayPal links in your monthly statements to make a payment. Statements for March will be issued soon.

This Week's Events on the Band Calendar: 

The 83rd Middle Tennessee School Band & Orchestra Association (MTSBOA) Assessments in Concert Performance and Sight-Reading is this week. We hope that all parents, family, and friends can make it for this event. No matter what the results, there is nothing that can truly describe the feeling of playing for a full house. Nor are there words to describe the sense of love that comes from your child seeing you as parents giving a standing ovation following the performance. Admission is free and we hope that you will join us for this special day of performances on Wednesday and Friday.

 

We ask that all parents and band members take a moment to click the link to the gig sheet and familiarize yourself with the schedule for these two days.

 

 

We are again asking for parents with remaining balances to please make arrangements to get these fees paid. For those of you waiting on PayPal invoices for a specific amount, those invoices will be emailed to you nest week. We really need to chip away at the $12,000.00 remaining so that we can get our bills paid and end the year on a strong note.

Just a friendly reminder that this week will start the ASR's for all band members. Please refer to the Upcoming Events section above for ensemble ASR dates and times. ASR's are a graded activity and we expect all band members to be present for these rehearsals.

Our next big performance of the semester will take place on Tuesday, February 21 at 7:30 PM in the theater of SCHS. We encourage friends, family, and alumni members to attend this concert. We will share this concert with the SCMS 7th and 8th Grade Select Band who will start their portion of the concert at 6:30 PM.

 

Once finished with their portion of the concert, SCMS Band members and their families will be free to leave (or they may choose to stay if they wish). This should allow for more seating options between performances. The high school portion of the concert featuring the combined SCHS Concert & Symphonic Band and the Wind Ensemble will start at 7:30 PM.

 

 

Concert and Symphonic Band ASR will take place on Monday, March 6 from 3:45 PM - 5:30 PM.

 

 

The Wind Ensemble ASR will take place on Thursday, March 9, from 3:45 PM - 5:30 PM.

 

The Wind Ensemble will perform at MTSU on the afternoon of Friday, March 10.

Specific performances times will be released as we get to the end of February.

This Week's Events on the Band Calendar: 

Just a friendly reminder that all band members not at the RCS All-County Band will need to wear their black band shirts/blue jeans to school. Band members will be allowed to participate in any of the Coming Home festivities but will need to report to the band room by 2:00 PM. Please also make sure to bring your flip folder and marching instrument. Replacement black band shirts are $25.00.

 

Please note that the rehearsal times and locations for the middle school ACB participants are different on Thursday. Please also note that the arrival times are different on Friday (even though they are in the same location). We wanted to let everyone know for planning rides for students or for students driving siblings, etc. If there should be any issues with inclement weather that would impact the RCS All-County Band, we will communicate through text message.

 

We have just received our MTSBOA Concert Performance dates which will take place at MTSU. Due to the schoolwide ACT test we have shifted the ASR's for that week to coincide with our performances. Concert and Symphonic Band ASR will take place as scheduled on Monday, March 6 from 3:45 PM - 5:30 PM. The Concert and Symphonic Band performance at MTSU will take place in the afternoon on Wednesday, March 8.

 

The Wind Ensemble will now move their ASR to Thursday, March 9, from 3:45 PM - 5:30 PM. The Wind Ensemble will perform at MTSU on the afternoon of Friday, March 10. Specific performances times will be released as we get to the end of February.
