RCS Optional Resource: Week Beginning Mon. 4 May

Prompt:
In Anton Chekhov’s play “Three Sisters,” the Prózorov siblings struggle to find happiness in a rural Russian village. Consider “Excerpts from Three Sisters” and “A Dream Within a Dream” and discuss the dissatisfaction that the characters experience in each text. What prevents the characters from being happy? What does this reveal about the mindsets of the characters, and how are they similar? Write a detailed analysis of these works by responding to these questions in an informative essay.

RCS Optional Resource: Week Beginning 27th April

In “This is Not Who We Are,” Naomi Shihab Nye reflects on her cultural identity as an Arab-American. Pair “Anti-Social Networks? We’re Just As Cliquey Online” with “This is Not Who We Are” and ask students what brings Americans together and drives them apart. Do students think that our social media networks are making it difficult for us to understand, or be exposed to, other people’s perspectives? What does Naomi Shihab Nye suggest can bring people together?

RCS Closure Update: Due Dates and Grades

I just wanted to post an update during this unprecedented time. I received several emails about due dates and grades. RCS has informed teachers that since we are officially closed, all due dates are currently suspended, which means that when we eventually return to our regular routine, all outstanding assignment due dates will be extended by the appropriate time. Additionally, teachers are not allowed to enter SCHS yet, so I am unable to provide any updated information on grades. I apologize for the inconvenience, and I thank you for your patience. Sending you all hopes for good health and peace during this time.
