Welcome!

Check your grades regularly through Skyward using your assigned username and password. If you need assistance with your login information, visit or call our attendance office (ext. 31507). 

 

Use Clever to access assignments in Teams. If this is your first time accessing Clever from home, you will need to put your entire email address in ([email protected]) and your password that you always use to log into a computer at school.

Information Technology - Microsoft Teams

To access Teams, either click on the Teams app in Clever or go through your school email by clicking on the "waffle" icon on the top left. 

 

Office Hours: Request a Zoom meeting with me via email at [email protected]. Available times are M-F, 3:30-4:00 or upon arrangement. 

 

**Please be aware that during class times, I will be focused on teaching students in class (on campus), but I will respond as soon as possible to your emails.**

Writing Checklist/Definition Essay Rubric:

  1. Is the term fully and clearly defined in the introduction without using phrases like "the dictionary says" or "according to Webster's"?
  2. Does the author use a clear organizational pattern?
  3. Is the author's purpose clear?
  4. Is the author's tone clear?
  5. Is the author's intended audience clear? (Not just writing for teacher/assignment)
  6. Is the argument behind the definition persuasive?
  7. Is the definition presented through clear thinking and logic?
  8. Does the essay include appropriate and ample evidence and examples that help define the term?
  9. Is the style (diction, sentence structure, language) mature, refined, sophisticated, and polished?
  10. Has the essay been carefully proofread? Is it free from grammatical/mechanical errors?
  11. Is the essay at least three, complete, full-length pages?
  12. Does the essay meet MLA format requirements?

UPDATE: We will NOT have Talk Back Thursday this week. Remember that your Definition Rough Draft (3 pages, typed, MLA) is due in class TOMORROW, and you also need to bring red and green pens.
