SCHS Band - Monday Night Rundown (9-14-2020)
Good evening SCHS Band members and Families,
Here is your Monday Night Rundown for the week of September 14: (Week 5 of Q1)
Rehearsals
Even though Tuesday will be ACT pre-bubbling and most students will be at home, we will still have rehearsal this week as normally scheduled.
Remember that rehearsal times for all Tuesday and Thursday are as follows:
5:15 PM - Color Guard, Percussion, Drum Majors, and Field Crew
5:30 PM - All Woodwinds and Brass Sections.
Rehearsals will now end at 7:30 PM. We want to make sure that students get home at a decent hour to eat, complete homework, etc.
Friday Night Lights - Week 5
We do not have any performances this week.
SCHS Band Senior Night
Senior Night is Friday, September 25, and is a home football game against Station Camp High School. We will send more information about how this night will work and what COVID-19 modifications will be made to all parents later. For now, we want our senior band parents to save this date. Senior band members should check their email for a form link to complete by this Thursday, September 17.
Donations Needed!
We need to ask for help from our band families to take care of the SCHS Band members for the remainder of their home football game performances. We request that each class bring the following items over the next two weeks:
- Freshmen & Seniors: 1 case (24 pack) of Bottled Water (16.9 oz bottles or higher)
- Sophomores & Juniors: 1 Variety Pack (18 Count or more) of chips

Good evening SCHS Band members and Families,
We hope this email finds you well and enjoying the labor day weekend. What follows is some important information for the week. As always, if you have any questions, please contact us.
Rehearsal Time Change
We will now make the following changes to the rehearsal times for all Tuesday and Thursday rehearsals:
5:15 PM - Color Guard, Percussion, Drum Majors, and Field Crew

Friday Night Lights - Week 4
We appreciate all band members and families and their flexibility with the sudden calendar change. Keep in mind that much of this is because SCHS plays schools in the MNPS school district. The MNPS district is not allowing any sports or extra-curricular activities. It's possible that there may be further changes to our performance calendar to make-up for the vacancies in the schedule. As always, we will notify all band members and families as soon as we receive notification.
It was great to see so many parents at the game, even if it was from afar. Please continue to check GoFan if you are interested in single-game tickets. No tickets will be sold at the gates.
Just a friendly reminder that no parents or visitors will be permitted near the band or in the building on Friday (either before or after the game). We are trying to follow all school guidelines to keep the band members and staff safe during this pandemic.

Band Class Fees - Activity Statements Issued via Email
Band Parents: Please make sure to pay the first installment of your child's band fees. The first $100 installment was due by the end of August. Refer to your statements for PayPal links.
You can also pay with a check, cash, or money order. Band members may drop off payments to the secure black box located in the band room. Envelopes are provided for convenience.

Band Class Fees - Activity Statements Issued via Email
Activity statements for each band member were emailed on Monday afternoon (8/31/2020) to the primary parent/guardian email on file. Please make sure to make the first installment of $100.00 this week. You can pay by cash or check (made payable to SCHS Band) or you can click the PayPal links and pay with a credit card. The links are on the statement email and you can click them.
Note - PayPal has a small processing fee so the total includes the portion that the band receives and the portion PayPal keeps.The processing fees are not credited to the statements.
You can also pay your child's $50.00 school instrument and equipment maintenance fee as well by clicking the link in your statement email.
Band members may drop off payments to the secure blackbox located in the band room. Envelopes are provided for convenience.
Technology Updates - Distance and In-Class Learners
All SCHS Band members will be using the FlipGrid App and SmartMusic for band class this year. All SCHS Band members can access their weekly assignments via Clever and finding their classes in Kiddom. They can also access the distance learners page by visiting www.schs.band and clicking the distance learners tab. The password is SCHSBand2020. Assignments are due this week. Please make sure to check the deadlines.
Also - all SCHS Band members need to make sure that they taken care of the self-service password reset. Please click here to for further information.
Friday Night Lights - Week 3
This will be our first public performance since March. With that there are lots of things that will be different for the time being. The main thing to know is that as much as we love having parents helping out and band alumni stopping by to visit on game days, that is simply not going to be able to take place this year.
No parents or visitors will be permitted near the band or in the building on Friday (either before or after the game). We are trying to follow all school guidelines to keep the band members and staff safe during this pandemic.
Click the link below to access the gig sheet for this week's performance. For our new parents and members, a gig sheet is always issued anytime the band has a performance ("band" includes color guard - which is an elite section of the band, not a separate entity or unit).
