Here is your Monday Night Rundown for the week of January 25: (Week 4 of Q3)

 

Just a friendly reminder that next week will start our three after-school dress rehearsals for our concert video recording. 

 

Distance learners can access their music and part assignments by clicking the assignment link for Q3 week 4 which is below.

 

The band room will be setup accordingly to keep 6ft distance between performers. Masks will be worn when students are not playing. Areas will be sanitized thoroughly. 

 

Students should plan to stay after school as rehearsals will start promptly at 3:45 PM. Rehearsals will end at 5:00 PM. If you need to double check which day each class rehearses and when the concert video taping will occur, please access the calendar link below. Don't forget to keep the back-up days open, just in case.

Here is your Monday Night Rundown for the week of January 18: (Week 3 of Q3)

 

As we are all aware, the current climate does not allow for us to perform concerts before a live audience. This has created a series of unique challenges for the SCHS Band Program. However, working in conjunction with Stewarts Creek High School Television and the Fine Arts Academy, we've found a temporary solution.

 

The plan for this quarter is to video record each concert ensemble class separately. This requires only one after school dress rehearsal and one day after school for recording. We have allocated 1 hour and 15 minutes for the dress rehearsal and 1 hour for the video recording per class ensemble. This will also allow our distance learners to join us for this project. Music and part assignments will be emailed to students to practice and most selections will be found in SmartMusic.

 

Recording each ensemble separately allows us to follow social distancing and health and safety guidelines with students seated 6ft apart on the stage. We have also limited the amount of after school time so that students can continue to focus on school work and other commitments.

 

For our distance learners, please note that we highly encourage participation as this will be the only performance grade for the quarter. For those students who are unable to participate, an alternative assignment will be given in place of this performance grade. We will send out a quick survey to the parents of distance learners this week to confirm participation in this project.

 

Once we have completed the video recordings, we will announce the broadcast of this concert at a later time. The dates for the rehearsals and recordings can be accessed by the link below.

 

Please note that with the uncertainty of inclement weather or a change to school-wide distance learning, we have added back-up dates, just to be on the safe side. Please check the calendar thoroughly. 

 

 

While we know that video recordings will never replace the atmosphere of a live performance, we know that the band members have been eager to have the opportunity to perform once again. Please let us know if you have any questions.
